Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

We wouldn’t be Designer Smiles without the cosmetic dentistry treatment of porcelain veneers.  Dr. Ann has created countless beautiful smiles, which translates to countless happy people, through this skillful treatment of her patients.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

A veneer is an overlay.  In dentistry, a porcelain veneer covers the visible surface of a tooth and is capable of changing the outward appearance.  Porcelain veneers can completely transform a smile by changing the size, shape, and color of the teeth.  Veneers can also cover over minor orthodontic problems, like mild crowding or small spaces between the teeth.

Dr. Ann prepares your teeth for the new covering, and a certified dental lab technician makes the veneers on an exact replica of your prepared teeth.  We use the highest quality dental lab here in the USA, and our dental lab technician is one of the few in the entire world who is accredited with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

What Smile Problems Do Porcelain Veneers Fix?

Because veneers cover over the visible surfaces of the teeth, they can improve the appearance of many different smile problems.

What are the Benefits of Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers can take a smile from good to great or perform a complete smile makeover.  Many people think of veneers and picture a “Hollywood smile”, but that’s not our goal at Designer Smiles.  We strive to create beautiful smiles that look natural and meet our patients’ goals.  The benefits of porcelain veneers go far beyond a “Hollywood smile”.

Versatility

At Designer Smiles, our porcelain veneers do not all look the same.  We customize the veneers to specific criteria determined from clear communication between our dentists and patients.  That customization means that we do not provide each cosmetic dentistry seeker with six bright white veneers.

Veneers are versatile in that we can place as few as one or as many as twenty to create the smile our patients want.  There is no one-size-fits-all approach to veneers in our office.  We have a wide selection of colors from which to choose for our porcelain veneers, and we often advise the lab technician of unique characterization the veneers need in order to blend in with the patient’s natural teeth.

Improved Confidence

Did you know that it isn’t the actual smile that many people find attractive?  It’s actually the confidence behind a wide, genuine smile.  The problem is that many people hide their smiles due to a dislike of the appearance of the teeth.  When you improve the appearance of the teeth with porcelain veneers, you gain the confidence to smile as widely as you can.

We see this so clearly in the before and after photos of our patients.  The width and genuineness of the smile in the after photos are noticeably greater than that of the before photos.  When you believe your smile is beautiful, you have no trouble showing it off with confidence.

Permanent Teeth Whitening

Porcelain veneers are a highly glazed glass.  This glaze creates the smoothest, glossiest surface possible, and this type of surface resists external staining.  The porcelain itself will not change color over time, and the glazed surface will not accumulate stains from coffee, tea, etc…  This means that porcelain veneers are, in effect, a form of permanent teeth whitening.

A Lasting Investment

Porcelain veneers are a significant investment, which is not to be taken lightly.  The unusual thing about veneers as an investment is that this investment continues to pay off for decades.  Think of other material things in which you could invest that amount of money: a new car or some fancy new technology.  These things all depreciate over time, so that one day they are worth significantly less than what you paid for them.

An investment in your smile is one that never depreciates.  You will love and show off your genuine, confident smile for many years.

Better Motivation for Maintaining Dental Health

Interestingly, we have seen a wonderful trend among people who make a significant investment in their smiles.  That trend involves an improvement in their own care for their dental health.  Patients who go through the porcelain veneer process seem more motivated to maintain this investment.  We often see better oral hygiene and a better commitment to consistent dental visits.

Obviously, this is a huge plus!  Improved dental health leads to better overall health and can lower the risk of diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s.
